Ingmarr Karlsson was born in Smĺlands Burseryd in 1942. After studying political science, French, and history of ideas and learning at the University of Gothenburg he entered into service in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1967. In the year 1996 he took up a position of the ambassador in Prague and Bratislava. The author of eight books on the political topics, including God With Us (1984) about religion and politics in the Middle East, The Land in the Middle (1991), comments on Germany and the new Europe, Islam and Europe (1994) and Europe and the People – a European Nation or the Nations of Europe? (1996), he also regularly contributes to the cultural pages of Svenska Dagbladet.
